In the Brčko District, a modern bus station has never been built; instead, there is only a covered area exposed to the elements. The situation is very poor, but nothing concrete is being done. Despite a large budget of over 400 million marks, funds for one of the most significant infrastructure projects have not yet been allocated.

It's not a pleasant, nor commendable, sight in Brčko. For years, this shelter, which some call the Main Bus Station, has been waiting for better days. The dissatisfaction of users with the current state of the station highlights the urgent need for improvement.

This needs to be enclosed a bit, so it's not cold.

After 30 years, I am here for the first time and I can tell you it looks sad. Simply put, it's sad, it can be much better.

I often travel here and freeze only in Brčko. I think there is no worse bus station. There is no place to get away from the wind and this bad weather.

The outdated infrastructure significantly complicates the daily lives of citizens, especially those who use domestic and international transport. Young people particularly complain about the appearance of the bus station.

The first thing they notice is that eyesore, the Bus Station, and they ask if this is really our Bus Station?

HARUN ŠABANOVIĆ, SOCIAL ACTIVIST

The idea of building a modern bus station in Brčko dates back several decades. The initial conceptual solution and project appeared back in 1978. However, it was not until March 2022 that a detailed conceptual project for the new bus station complex in Brčko was developed.

It is designed to have about 1,400 square meters of workspace, waiting rooms, restrooms, ticket offices, and all the facilities that accompany this activity. Then we have over 5.5 thousand square meters of developed space, including the square, departure platforms, and arrival platforms.

The head of the District points out that documentation for the main project is being prepared, based on which a construction permit can be obtained. Regarding financing, the government will have to make a decision.

The government will have to decide in some way. Whether to finance from the budget of Brčko District BiH or through a public-private partnership. But in any case, we see it as a priority.

The carrier practically does not exist to that extent, nor is there interest in it, which means the city would have to do it. Essentially, it is a significant communal problem.

It is estimated that between 5 and 10 million marks would be needed to build a modern bus station in Brčko.
